Terms of Service

The agreement between you and IMHO for using the platform.

Last updated: October 31, 2026 · Version 1.0See also: Privacy Policy

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and IMHO SYSTEMS, a business registered in British Columbia, Canada (“we”, “us”), which operates IMHO (“In My Human Opinion”). They govern your use of imho.to and everything we provide through it (the “Service”).

By joining the waitlist, signing in, registering, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

Headings, highlighted summaries, and examples are there to help you read these Terms; they do not limit or change what the Terms say.

2. Who can use IMHO

  • Adults only — You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract where you live.
  • Real people — IMHO measures what people think. Each account must belong to one real person who uses it personally. You may not run an account for a bot, an organization, or someone else, or let any automated system, including an AI agent, answer, post, or react for you.
  • One account per person — You may hold only one account. You may not open a new account after we have banned you, or use the Service where the law prohibits you from doing so.

3. Your account

You sign in through a third-party identity provider, such as Google or Microsoft. Keep that account secure: you are responsible for everything done through your IMHO account, and you must tell us promptly at support@imho.to if you believe someone else has used it.

  • Accurate information — IMHO compares people by country, age, and other characteristics, so the details you give when you register, and whenever you update them, must be true.
  • Your handle — Your handle must not impersonate anyone, mislead people about who you are, or infringe anyone's rights. We may require you to change a handle that does. A handle you give up may be taken by someone else.
  • No transfers — You may not sell, transfer, or share your account, or any invitation to join.

4. The Service and changes to it

IMHO is free. It lets members answer questions, publish opinions, and compare views across countries and groups. The Service is still evolving: we may add, change, limit, or remove features at any time, including who can register (for example, only by invitation), which questions are offered, and what can be seen without an account. We may also suspend all or part of the Service for maintenance, security, or legal reasons.

We will try to give reasonable notice of changes that significantly affect you, but we are not obliged to keep any feature, question, or content available.

5. Questions, answers, and results

We write or select the questions on IMHO. Your answers count toward the aggregate results we show, such as breakdowns by country and group, worldview profiles, and compatibility scores, as the Privacy Policy explains.

Not a poll

Results reflect the people who chose to take part. They are not scientific surveys of any population, and we make no promise that they are accurate, representative, or complete.

To protect the results, we may limit how often answers can change, exclude answers we believe are not genuine, and label, delay, or hide results for some questions, for example during an election.

You may share and quote individual results with credit to IMHO, but you must not present them as a scientific or representative poll.

6. Your content

You keep your rights

You keep any rights you have in what you submit to IMHO, such as copyright in the opinions you write and the photos you take.

“Your content” means the answers, opinions, images, profile details, reports, and anything else you submit. To run the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt (for example, to resize images, remove image metadata, or make content safe to display), display, and distribute your content, and to include your answers in aggregate results, so that we can operate, secure, and improve IMHO. Our service providers may do the same on our behalf.

This licence ends when you remove the content or your account is deleted, and we then stop showing it. Aggregate results that do not identify you may continue to reflect your answers, and we may keep copies out of view for the periods the Privacy Policy describes, only for moderation, security, and legal purposes.

  • Who can see it — When you publish an opinion or make a profile detail visible, other members can read and engage with it. Depending on how the Service is configured, so can people without an account and search engines, and images you publish can be opened by anyone who has their link. The Privacy Policy explains what is visible to whom.
  • Your responsibility — You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the rights needed to post it, and that it breaks neither these Terms, the law, nor anyone else's rights.
  • No duty to monitor — We do not review content before it is published and are not obliged to, but we may review, hide, or remove it as “Moderation, reports, and appeals” describes.

7. Feedback and suggested questions

If you suggest a question, for example when you join the waitlist, or send us ideas or feedback, we may use them freely, including by publishing an edited version as a question, without credit, payment, or any other obligation to you. You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to do so.

8. Our content and intellectual property

Apart from content that members submit, the Service, including its questions, aggregate results, insights, design, software, and the IMHO name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service as these Terms allow. You may not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or your content.

9. Acceptable use

IMHO exists so people can take clear positions on difficult questions and explain why. Strong convictions, sharp disagreement, and unpopular views are welcome; abuse and manipulation are not. You must not:

  • Post anything unlawful, defamatory, or fraudulent, or anything that violates a court order.
  • Harass, threaten, or stalk anyone, publish another person's private or contact information, or incite violence or self-harm.
  • Post hate speech that attacks or dehumanizes people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or serious illness.
  • Post sexually explicit material, intimate images shared without consent, or any material that sexually exploits children.
  • Impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent who you are.
  • Manipulate results, including through multiple, fake, or automated accounts, coordinated voting or brigading, or buying or selling accounts, answers, or invitations.
  • Submit answers or opinions that do not reflect views you genuinely hold, including opinions substantially written by artificial intelligence and presented as your own. Help with spelling, grammar, translation, or accessibility is fine, as long as the substance is yours.
  • Reveal, or try to work out, answers or views that another member has not made public, including from aggregate results or compatibility scores; collect information about members' political, religious, or philosophical views to build profiles or lists; or target members because of their views.
  • Post spam, advertising, malware, or phishing links.
  • Scrape, crawl (except as robots.txt allows), or copy the Service or its results in bulk, including to train artificial intelligence models, without our written permission.
  • Probe, overload, or interfere with the Service, or bypass its security, rate limits, access restrictions, or verification.
  • Help or encourage anyone else to do any of these things.

10. Moderation, reports, and appeals

A person reviews every moderation decision to hide or remove content, or to restrict, suspend, or ban an account. We also use automated tools, such as rate limits and bot checks, to limit abuse.

Members can report opinions, questions, and accounts within the Service. Anyone, with or without an account, can report content they believe is illegal or infringes their rights, including copyright, by emailing support@imho.to with a link to the content, an explanation of why, and their name and email address. We review reports diligently, objectively, and in proportion to the harm involved, and we may tell the person who reported content what we decided.

If content or an account breaks these Terms or the law, we may hide or remove the content, restrict features, or suspend or permanently ban the account. When we act against your content or account, we will tell you what we did and why, normally by email, unless the law prevents it or telling you would put someone at risk.

You can ask us to review any such decision by emailing support@imho.to within six months. We will look at it again, reverse it if it was wrong, and tell you the result. This does not affect your right to go to court or to use any other remedy the law gives you.

Copyright

To report content that infringes your copyright, email support@imho.to with:

  • A description of the work you believe was copied, and a link to the content on IMHO.
  • Your name, postal address, and email address.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement that your notice is accurate and that you own the copyright or are authorized to act for its owner.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

If we remove content because of a copyright notice, we will tell the member who posted it, who can reply with a counter-notice explaining why they believe it was removed by mistake. Where Canadian law requires, we forward copyright notices to the member concerned. We close the accounts of members who repeatedly infringe copyright.

11. Verification

We use technical and organizational measures to discourage automated participation, impersonation, and duplicate accounts. They include optional ways to verify facts about you, such as confirming with your passport, through the ZKPassport app, that you are a real adult. Verification is provided by a third party under its own terms. Once verified, the details it confirms, such as your year of birth and country, can no longer be changed by you, and one identity document can verify only one account. If a verified detail is wrong or no longer true, contact us.

Verification confirms only the specific facts it checks, and a badge means only that a verification succeeded. It does not guarantee who a member is, that a person holds only one identity document, that every account is unique, or that what members post or tell us is accurate. We may reject or revoke a verification, or ask you to verify again, where reasonably necessary to protect the Service.

12. Third-party services

IMHO relies on services we do not control, such as Google and Microsoft for sign-in, Cloudflare for security checks, and ZKPassport for verification, and content on IMHO may link to other websites. Those services and websites are governed by their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for them.

13. Ending your account

You can stop using IMHO at any time. You can remove your published opinions yourself, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing support@imho.to from the address linked to it.

We may suspend or end your account or your access to the Service if we reasonably believe you broke these Terms or the law, if we need to in order to protect members, the Service, or others, or if we stop offering the Service. When we do, we will tell you as “Moderation, reports, and appeals” describes.

Parts of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your account ends, including those on licences, feedback, our content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law, continue to apply.

14. Disclaimers

We provide IMHO free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, and we do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content will be preserved.

Opinions, answers, results, worldview profiles, compatibility scores, and insights on IMHO come from members or from automated calculations based on what members submit. They are not professional, legal, medical, financial, or political advice, and we do not endorse any opinion posted by members. You rely on them at your own risk.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, neither we nor the people and service providers who help us run IMHO will be liable to you for any damages arising from or related to the Service, these Terms, or content posted by members or others, whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive, including any loss of data, reputation, goodwill, revenue, or profits, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Because IMHO is free, where the law does not allow us to exclude our liability entirely, our total liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service or these Terms is limited to fifty Canadian dollars (CAD $50).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited, such as liability for fraud, for intentional or grossly negligent conduct, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or, in Quebec, for bodily or moral injury. In those cases, our liability is limited only to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived, such as British Columbia's Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act.

16. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to compensate us for claims that others bring against us, and for the resulting losses and reasonable legal costs, arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of the law or of anyone's rights, or content you posted in breach of these Terms. This does not apply to the extent a loss was caused by our own fault.

17. Governing law and disputes

If you have a concern about IMHO, please contact us first at support@imho.to so we can try to resolve it. If we cannot resolve a dispute within 30 days, either of us may take it to court.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be decided by the courts of British Columbia. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the place where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms, for example to reflect new features, changes to the Service, or the law. If a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email or within the Service, and where the law requires it, we will ask you to accept the new Terms. Changes needed for security or legal reasons may take effect sooner. Other changes take effect when we publish them here with a new date and version at the top.

If you do not agree to changed Terms, you can stop using IMHO and ask us to delete your account. If you keep using IMHO after the changes take effect, the changed Terms apply to you.

19. General terms

  • Entire agreement — These Terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service, and they replace any earlier version.
  • Severability — If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, that part applies as far as the law allows, and the rest stays in effect.
  • No waiver — If we do not enforce a term right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment — You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a reorganization, merger, or sale of IMHO, and the Privacy Policy will continue to protect your data.
  • Events beyond our control — We are not responsible for failing to perform because of causes beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at our providers, network failures, natural disasters, or acts of government.
  • Notices — We may send you notices by email to the address on your account or by posting them within the Service. You can send notices to us at the email address below.
